Karen Layman has been practicing the art of origami since she was first introduced to it in third grade. She is now in the 8th grade and using her skills to brighten the lives of those who are fighting disease.
Karen and her friends, Krista and Charlie have sold origami at the Warren Fall Festival in Warren, CT to raise money for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Karen and Krista also go to the Torrington Center for Cancer Care and fold cranes for the patients there to encourage hope and healing in their lives.

A gift of Hope and Healing

Recently, Karen rallied her family, friends and community and organized a crane folding event to create over 1,000 cranes to earn a wish for her aunt Wendy who is battling ovarian cancer. The 1,130 cranes were presented to Wendy at a very special concert.
